Southern Living Names Port A Top 10 Beach Town 2021
Great Recognition From The South's Oldest Premier Magazine!
If you love Port A, you know all about its charms. But now, the secret’s out! Southern Living magazine just named Port Aransas to its list of ten Best Beach Towns for 2021--touting its location along Gulf and bay, teeming fishing waters, public piers, and scenic South Padre National Seashore nearby. Each town on the list differs, but each has “nostalgia and natural beauty in spades,” says the magazine.
We're proud that our town is counted among the venerable beach favorites. "This year, we are celebrating 10 beach towns that highlight the best our Southern shoreline has to offer. And just like the grains of sand on their gorgeous beaches, no two destinations are the same ..." says Southern Living travel writer Betsy Cribb. The others "Best Beach Towns" include: Bay St. Louis, Miss.; Cape Charles, Va.; Folly Beach, S.C.; Lewes, Del.; Mexico Beach, Fla.; Nags Head, N.C.; Orange Beach, Ala.; Sanibel Island, Fla.; St. George Island, Fla.
Now that the whole South has heard how great Port A is, you’ll want to book your vacation there now! Cinnamon Shore has proudly built our resort village on the outskirts of Port A. We can’t wait to welcome you to town!
More Raves from Southern Living
The Best Beach Town article links to another Southern Living piece all about the family-friendly aspects of Port Aransas. It celebrates all there is to do for kids and adults--birding, deep sea fishing, beachside lounging and more. It gets that this Texas charmer is "low-key," and calls it "an undiscovered gem." Highlighting the 5 to 8-mile kayaking trails along the west side of Mustang Island, the article says that the best way to get to know the barrier island.
Kids love looking for dolphins at the lookout tower at Roberts Point Park, where a playground for littles makes it easy for parents to turn them loose and relax under a shaded pavilion. And to see more wildlife, the article describes the birding center.
"For an afternoon of birding, head out to Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center, a lush wetland escape with a long stretch of boardwalk and viewing tower. Look out for alligators, endangered whooping cranes, and pink roseate spoonbills, the official bird of Port Aransas. The idyllic nature preserve is free to the public and open from sunrise to sunset."
We're so thrilled that a magazine that sits on so many coffee tables across the South has written about the town where Cinnamon Shore has grown into its own charming village.
