Working with SURF

This trusted builder has crafted many cottages and homes at our seaside village, helping to create the magnificent, low-rise, coastal skyline at South. Under Carrie's leadership, the SURF team builds interiors around palettes such as "Dunes," with green and sand tones, or "Beach Party," with vibrant colors. The "Sunset" palette has featured a spectrum of pinks and white like the coastal clouds.

Sometimes SURF selects the furnishings and accents, such as slip-covered dining chairs or bamboo-framed mirrors. "I do all the interiors. That's kind of how it works," Carries says, ticking off the list of items she takes care of for prospective buyers--paint colors, tile, counter tops, lighting, and more.

For other projects, SURF may curate finishes and other selections but partner with a Texas designer, such as Christopher Beach of Decorum Home & Design, on furniture packages, giving the buyer an easy way to achieve beach home goals without having to make a hundred decisions on their own.

"The way that you have to finish out your home down here [on the coast] is on another level," Carrie says. "It's those little tiny details that if you don't know what you're doing down here [on the coast] you're going to have problems." For instance, SURF relies on maritime light fixtures meant to hold up well in nautical environment.
